Yesterday was a record sales day for 2014, this is significant since usually January’s post-holiday afterglow contains our highest sales days.

This record day was driven largely by the continued success of our mega-apps and new mobile advertising campaigns.

We are also pleased to report our first mega-app “Relax and Sleep well by Glenn Harrold” had a record sales day for 2014 on Sunday the 23rd. It was also the highest sales day in over six months!

This is largely due to our new mobile app advertising campaign with Google and other mobile traffic sources. Relax is currently #34 on the iTunes US lifestyle charts for iPhone and is attracting a few thousand new customers a day.

We marked another new Top 200 high for February 2014 over the weekend. In a once daily snapshot of number of MRNJ apps in the Top 200 Grossing (by category) in the United States, there were a total of 10 Apps ranking on Saturday.

Other News:

App economy think tank Flurry released a new blog late last week that focused on the shelf-life of mobile apps. Titled, “Benchmarking the Half-Life and Decay of Mobile Apps”, the article discussed what happens to an App after its launch “glow” expires. In the blog, Flurry stated, “managing apps well throughout their entire lifecycle means also paying special attention to what happens after an app peaks. Does it decline precipitously or manage to hold much of its audience for a long time?”

The article does an analysis based on the premise (or observation) that usage of many apps decays rapidly the first few months post-peak and then levels off. The article introduces the concept of half life of monthly active users or MAU, or the time it takes for monthly users to drop to 50% of their post-launch peak.

The Article concludes a few key items: An App typically decays to half its peak users by the fourth month after release and users erode at a much slower pace after that. For apps with > 10,000 monthly active, users, this is usually reached after 6 months. Games tend to lose their active user audience the fastest while utilities and health apps at a much slower rate.

So, how does this Flurry commentary apply to Metatron/i-Mobilize top selling apps? Our top Apps do the EXACT OPPOSITE, rather than decay in the MAU, our Apps have actually grown monthly active users since their release. Much of our released content is “evergreen”, meaning it is timeless and used over and over again by users and maintains its relevance over time. That is a key attribute that differentiates Metatron from other developers and is why our sales momentum continues month after month, whereas others struggle to duplicate or maintain an audience with their apps.
